It’s interesting how circumstances can cause us to think. Sometimes it takes a great shift in our lives to get in a the introspective attitude that we’ve needed to be in for years.
The other day we were driving back to Maryland after leading worship at a church in Virginia and as I was driving I grew silent. I started thinking about my current situations. I was fighting with myself to not fall into a sad, depressed mood. I was fighting the negativity.
As I was sitting there in the drivers seat arguing with myself about wether or not to let the negativity win and slip into a sad attitude, I began to ask myself and God, “what the heck can I do about this? How do I get out of this place? How do I move on? How do I overcome?”
The answer I got is not what I was expecting. In fact, it wasn’t really an answer that I necessarily wanted. It’s a tough pill to swallow.
God spoke to these words, “How can you be full of me if you are still holding onto any part of you?”
The only way to truly be free and to be true overcomes is if we actually let go of all of ourselves. We must empty all of us so that we can filled with all of Him. We have to give away all of us so that He can fill us with all He is!
Just as Jesus said to the rich young ruler. We have to be willing to give everything that we have to receive all that He has for us.
When we let go of all of us in search of all of Him there’s nothing for us to worry about. There’s nothing for us to fear because He will fill us and give us all that we ever need. We just have to be willing to let go of all of us.
You can’t receive God’s blessing for your life when your hands are full from holding onto you.
May we truly empty ourselves so that God can fill us with all that he is.
“Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on us. Spirit of the living God fall afresh on us. Amen”
