I’m sitting here in the “green room” at a church we will be playing at tonight and I thought I’d write about some of the things that I am currently reading. So here it is:
Over the past few days I’ve been making my way through the Minor Prophets (Amos, Zephaniah,Zechariah, Malachi, etc.). It’s been a while since I’ve taken time to focus on them.
It’s a very intriguing study. The prophecy from these books at times is very heavy. Yet, in the midst of it there shines hope and grace.
Today (Wednesday) I read through a part of Zechariah where God is speaking through the prophet that he will keep Jerusalem safe and cause all of her enemies to be destroyed. As I read that I can’t help but wonder if we are living in that time now. It’s so fascinating to me!
Along with reading through the minor prophets I’ve been reading through Hebrews 11. I’ve read this one chapter over and over again throughout this past week and a half.
Reading of the faith that others have had even in the middle of trial and turmoil is so encouraging. I’ve needed a boost in faith and a good reminder to stay faithful through all circumstances.
Here are some verses that are standing out to me right now:
On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. (Zechariah 12:3 NIV)
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 NIV)
“Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Spirit if the living God, fall afresh on us. Amen.”
